About Doc Loco
I am an Healer, Counselor, Artist, Musician, Poet, Philosopher, Philanthropist, Social Activist and Author.
I was born in 1954 in Burlington, Iowa and grew up primarily in Omaha, Nebraska and Detroit, Michigan.
I raised 6 children with my fabulous and beautiful wife and business partner since 1984, Kita Kazoo.
Kita and I were both raised by Mormon converts.
We became TBM’s (True Believing Mormons) and spent many years following and being abused by religion, including 15 years in Mormon Fundamentalism (yup Polygamy).
Since we lived to tell the tale regarding our religious experiences, many of which we feel we have benefited from tremendously we now feel inclined to help others cope with the damage that we feel most religions engender.
One of the most damaging yet nearly universal tenets of religion is denial of self in favor of following some man or woman who seeks to interpose between the individual and what they perceive to be their spiritual center. (God if you will)
Kita and I founded the original People For Peace in Detroit, Michigan in 1985 and have been involved in community service and charity work ever since.
I currently volunteer as CEO of Whole Life Ministries (since 2002) and perform healing and counseling services as well as operating a ministry art school specializing in body arts and serving as a community activist.
We are currently operate Happy Valley Tattoo (Utah) a service division of Whole Life Ministries and are opening a new Detroit, Michigan ministry office and studio during 2008. (We previously founded, operated and in 2000 sold Royal Oak Tattoo in MetroDetroit after moving to Utah in 1998)
I began my music career at age 7 as a drummer and played rock drums in several bands from 1967 (age 13 – Uncle Ned’s Goofy Grapefruit Band – Detroit, Michigan) to 1981 (Dr. Loco & the Holy City Howlers – Salt Lake City, Utah).
I took up guitar and songwriting when I was 27 while living in Hollywood, California after the breakup of my band The Fact.
I postponed further writing and performing while I focused on feeding and housing my kids and working in the ministry, and now I am resuming where I left off back then publishing and performing my original R&B music in addition to my ministry services, while Kazoo takes up movie-making in addition to teaching and performing art services.
